Sheena’s journey with Flourishing Lives began in 2009, when she started as a volunteer. She holds an undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences from Michigan State University and a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from Baker College. She specializes in Trauma, Attachment, Therapist Training, and Research. Her dedication extends to supporting the team, families, and children who are often misunderstood and facing various challenges.
With a wealth of training and experience in trauma-informed care, Sheena brings a unique blend of empathy and sensitivity to her work. She deeply understands the profound impact of past experiences on children’s well-being. Her proficiency in attachment theory allows her to foster healthy connections and provide a safe haven for healing through a play-based model, making her a valuable asset to any team.
Sheena’s holistic approach to therapy integrates understanding neurological deficits and addressing physical, social, and emotional needs. Skilled in sensory processing interventions, she recognizes their significant impact on children’s daily functioning.
Outside of her professional life, Sheena is an avid traveler, having explored 12 countries and counting. She values her time with family and friends and enjoys outdoor adventures with her two dogs. Her personal interests, such as her love for outdoor activities and her belief in the resilience and potential of every child, greatly influence her passion for pediatric therapy and inspire her to advocate on their behalf.
